I got off days of my part-time-job, and I send a lot of money in this trip, so when I return to Kumamoto, I want to work very hard. Also I want to buy souvenirs for my family, my friends, andJapanese dance's teacher this weekend.

My Favorite Book in This Semester.

Tha Phantom of the Opera is my favorite book in this semester. I like horror stories, so I choose it, and this was very exciting to read. Readers won't know what will happen next, and there is unexpected development. The story was long and alittle difficult to read, but very interesting. You will be absorbed in the story and enjoy reading. If you have free time, it may be good to read it, and then, let's talk about the story after summer vacation.

Frankenstein

"An arm moved, then a leg. Then I heard breathing. Yes, the man was breathing. He was alive!" (book cover)

I read a book "Frankenstein" these days. This story is famous all over the world, I think, and I knew the title of this story, but I didn't know the content, so I choose this book. At first, I want to tell you about what you may be misunderstanding. Actually, the name of Frankenstein is the inventor's name. The name is not the monster's name. I didn't know about this until I read.
One day, Frankenstein made a monster, he did not know about this world, so he had to learn by himself. Through many experiences, he can get new information.
This story is like this, so it is not frighting than I expected though this is a horror story. In this hot season, we need some scary stories to feel cool, so I recommend people who like horror read this.

Anna and the Fighter

" 'Hello,' he said. 'You're awake now, are you? Where are you going?' " (p.5)

I read a book "Anna and the Fighter" recently. Anna is a young girl and this is about her first travel by herself. When Anna and her father were at the station, before they say good-bye, her father said "Don't talk to any strange people" to her. After she sat her seat alone, she fell asleep because she was too excited to sleep well last night. When she was awake, there is a man near her. The man looked ugly and seemed to be a bad man. He spoked to her "Where are you going?" Anna answered "Naira." However, accoding to the man, they had passed Naira two hours ago. He sais "I'll help you, so you had better stay with me." Anna was afraid of him and she saw a newspaper he had. There was a picture of the man and the letters of "This man is dangerous fighter" in the paper. Anna thought this man must be a criminal and she had to run away, but she couldn't. She was took to a hotel and there were his two friends. They seemed to be bad, too. What will happen to Anna? Could she return to her parents? If you are interested in the end of this story, please read it.

The Truth Machine.

"Success, I want success! Money, I want money! Power, I want power!" (p.30)

I read a book "The Truth Machine" recently.
One day, Professor Verty invented The Truth Machine which mekes people speake only truth.  Professer Verity loves truth and he wants to make a peaceful world by the machine. Ahter he invented, people all over the world are interested in it and they send a lot of letters of thanks and encouragement, and a lot of money for his better studies and inventions. Then he choose three people who want to use the machine.
First, a woman. She wants to know the truth about her husband. He seems to have another woman, but when she ask him about another woman, he won't answer her question usually, so she wrote a letter to Professer Verity. She took her husband to Professer's laboratory, and he answered honestly. He answered "I loves another woman and he does not love you." Then, the wife could know the truth but she became not to know what she should do.
Second, a police man. He wanted to make the criminals honest. He wanted to know they are realy criminals or not. When he use the machine, one of them was not guilty and the others were guilty. His work was done, so his boss said "I don't you any more, I will you fire." Then, he lost his work.
Third, a spy. He caught his enemy spy and he wanted to meke the spy tell information he knew, but he won't answer, so he wanted to use the machine. The enemy spy seemed to tell the truth, but according to him, he was always tell lies, and that' sthe truth. So the third client confused and didn't know what to do.
Finally, they got angry and used the machine in order to ask the Professer some questions. And he answerd that he was not interested in thr truth, he just wanted to get success, money, and power.
Like this, we can learn a lesson that it is not always good to know the truth. We sometimes say "Shiranu ga hotoke(知らぬが仏)," in Japanese. There are many things we don't have to know in this world, I thought.

Photo Finish

"The four photos show a murder!" (p.10)

I read a book "Photo Finish" recently. This is about a murder showed by photo. It is very short story, but very exciting.
One day, Lisa and Alice planned to travel foreign country in their holidays, so they needed their passports. The day they went out to issue their passports, but Lisa forgot to bring her photo, so she went to old bus station to take photo with photo booth there. Fortunately, there was no one, so she could quickly takr photos and go back to Alice, but that happened after her taking photos. She got out of the booth and was suppposed to wait issue of the photos though before long, there was photos in slot. They were not hers, but she took them out of slot and had a look. The four photos were very strange and frightened her because they showed a murder of a man. There were a man and hands which kill the man by holding his scarf tightly in the photos. If the killer came back to took the photos, she may be killed too. She was very scaried and run away with no her photos. She told her story to Alice and they went to a police office. Then she realized that she left her photos and she was in danger because the killer may be looking for her now...

After this, many difficulties happend to them. First, they got stuck in the mud. Second, Leon hurt his left arm very hard. Third..., the bridge they had to pass in order to go to their base had been broken!! What could they do? One of them took out a radio from their car, but it didn't work because they were too far away from their base, so they couldn't call help. The Spring Cup

" ' Well, with a little help she can be sick...'  ' Fred, what are you talking about?' " (p.18)

I read a book "The spring cup" recentry. This is a story about horse racing. The main charactor, Caroline, is a good rider and when she joins competitions, she always dose her best, but she can't be winner at any competitions because of another better rider, Sophie.
One day, her father told her "If you dosen't win the next competition, I will sell your horse." She was very sad to hear that because she was always second place even though she was doing her best, so she thought she can't be winner of the next, and lose her horse, Applewind. She talked her brother about that, and he came up with an idea.
The day of the competition, Caroline was nervous, but somehow her brother, Fred, was sure of her win. And in fact Calorine became the winner of the competition. However hard she practiced, she couldn't win before, but this time she became winner. However the winning was made by her brother, so it was unsportmanlike one. He gave sleeping pills to Sophie's hourse, so he slept in the competition and Caroline won. He wanted help her and he didn't think well what's going on before doing it. He bwcame very sorry for Sophie and her sister, so he apologize many time. I think Sophie will be angry, but she was so kind and forgive his fault. I was so moved to readd that scene and I want to be a kind person like Sophie and learnd the inmportance of being honest and sincerely.

Holly the Eco Warrior

Holly was so upset. She couldn't believe this was happening. The old tree! (p.20)

I read a book "Holly the Eco warrior" recently. This was our last book in Literature Circle activities. The main character, Holly, loves nature and she wants to protect it. And she loved a old tree in her house. The tree was her favorite. However, one day, her parents started saying "We're cutting the tree in order to build father's office there," and she was so upset. She cried and got angry, then, she decided to stay at a tree house of the tree. She had a fixed mind not to go back home untill her parents change their decision. Both of Holly and her parents were stuborn, so the conflict was longer than I expected. Finally, they cut the tree! You will think "Oh, she lost the battle and the adults always won't listen to children's petitions in oeder to have their own way!" But it's wrong, Actually, they became a better family than before and we can learn how to solve problems in our family without anyone who has to be sad or angry.
